| Golze ADL Inflight Satellite Datalink Weather provided by a very engaged and accomplished fellow pilot. The system works very well, is extremely useful and customer service is unrivalled. I use the Golze ADL180B portable unit in multiple aircraft. With most newer Garmin cockpits the ADL180B emulates FIS-B weather, which means it radiates the satellite weather it receives onwards to Garmin devices which then show it as FIS-B/ADS-B weather on the screen (G500Txi, GTX345, G3X, …). | https://golze.tech |
| Bose A20/A30 ANR Headset I’ve tried many different headsets (David Clark, Lightspeed, Sennheiser, …) and always came back to my trusted pair of Bose A20s. The A30s work just as well. If you’re in need of a headset, get a Bose A20 or A30 and you will not regret it. | https://www.bose.com |
| PLB Personal Locator Beacon Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs) are compact, subscription-free safety devices used on land or at sea to alert search and rescue teams in emergencies. They are best attached on your person, and to a lifejacket when flying overwater. Once activated, the SAR chain is initiated. At first, the SAR center will try to reach the PLB’s registered owner and relatives by phone to avoid dispatching rescue assets to a false alarm. Since some EU countries are so backwards that they don’t allow registering PLBs, most people register their PLBs in the UK (so make sure the one you buy is suitable for UK registration). | https://www.gov.uk/register-406-beacons |
| Flight Kit / Pilot Bag / Overnighter After years of TravelPro luggage (Laptop tote bag + IATA cabin trolley/rollaboard) I found an even better option. The Decathlon Quechua 23 Liter Backpack is great. Fully padded laptop case (easily fits a 17″), ergonomic carrying straps and room for all flying gadgets + overnight stuff. For multi-day trips, I bring this expandable super light case. I hate to checkin luggage and this combination adheres to luggage requirements of all airlines and travel classes. | Decathlon Quechua 23 Liter Hiking Backpack |
